In the Italian Province of Trento, 63% of land area is represented by woodened territory.
The main source of biomass is represented by wood logs and residues, which account for 85%, agriculture - 7% and the remaining 8% comes from cleaning of the riverbeds.
A large portion of biomass is still underused, only 10% of total available resources were converted into energy in 2010.
To increase the share, a greater importance on local biomass resources for energy may come from wood waste streams,
agricultural wastes, municipal solid wastes and manufacturing wastes.
